The word incense comes from Latin incendere, which means “to burn.” When incense burns, it releases a fragrant smoke. Incense is largely used for religious worship, creating a spiritual atmosphere in religious ceremonies. However, it is also used in aromatherapy and meditation, often combined with essential oils, and it can be used to mask unpleasant odors.
Nag Champa: Nag champa is one of my favorite incense to use because it is associated with all four elements—Air, Fire, Water and Earth, as well as Spirit. This sacred incense, which is blended with sandalwood, can be used for many of the same reasons as sandalwood. Nag champa is used to sanctify and purify an area, and it is a good general-purpose incense in spiritual situations, such as meditation and when seeking spiritual enlightenment or development.
