Let the Sunshine In:
Sunlight’s Effect on Indoor Air Quality
We don’t often think that sunlight can affect air quality. Did you know that when sunlight passes through the atmosphere, it electrically charges some of the air molecules? Some air molecules will become positive ions and some will become negative ions.
Certain equipment, such as heaters and air conditioners, typically remove negative ions and usually add positive ones into the air. The problem with this is that as positive ions increase and the negative ions decrease, some people begin to feel adverse effects, such as headaches, dry throat, sinus problems, hoarseness, fatigue and dizziness. Negatively charged air on the other hand produces feelings of contentment and well-being.
